Description:
The Toledo Zoo is consistently rated in the top 5 zoos in the country every year. The Toledo Zoo has expanded over the past couple of years to include animal exhibits on the same side of the Anthony Wayne Trail as the parking lots. There are so many different exhibits that it is becoming increasingly difficult to find new space to add new animals. The hippo exhibit that allows visitors to view the animal below the water is one of the only ones in North America, and is the main reason why the Chinese government chose the Toledo Zoo over Chicago and Washington D.C. back in the 80's to lease a pair of pandas (that attracted visitors from across the country). Not only does the zoo generate revenue from visitors and charity, but also taxpayers usually pass annual levees giving the Toledo Zoo millions of dollars. It is this community-wide commitment that makes the Toledo Zoo one of the country's best. The Toledo Zoo averages almost 900,000 visitors every year.
