Centennial Terrace is an outdoor ballroom that has hosted many of the great swing and big bands of the 1940’s and 1950’s. Centennial Terrace boasts a 10,000 square foot terrazzo dance floor, one of the largest outdoor dance floors in the United States. Centennial Terrace has features a wide variety of entertainment styles.

Most Saturday nights still feature big band music favored by many of the area’s seniors and ballroom dance fans. Many national recording artists have also performed over the past 10 years at Centennial. Other summertime staple events include Sunday night “Youth Quake” Teen Dances the “Sylvania Star Spangled Celebration”, a local July 4th fireworks display and a “Disco Party” where some 2,000 adults enjoy reliving their times of the 1980’s. Centennial Terrace, with full concession and catering facilities, usually plays host to about 45 events per year from mid May through Mid September.

Stranahan Theater

The Stranahan Theater is a 2,422 seat concert hall located in Toledo, Ohio. It was built in the early 1970s. The theater's foyer is 3,000 square feet (300 m²) and the adjacent Great Hall features 10,000 square feet (1,000 m²) of space. There is parking for 1,200 cars at the theater.

Fulfilling its primary usage as a concert venue, the Stranahan Theater is also used for broadway and family shows and is also the site of the Pops series of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, which primarily uses Peristyle Theater as its home. In addition, the Great Hall can be used for banquets, receptions, and trade shows.

Stranahan Theater is the cornerstone of the Toledo Masonic Center, and therefore Toledo's freemasons own the theater. It is the headquarters of Ohio's 11th Masonic District.

Toledo Zoo

margin:15px; width:150px; height:150px;">The Toledo Zoo is consistently rated in the top 5 zoos in the country every year. The Toledo Zoo has expanded over the past couple of years to include animal exhibits on the same side of the Anthony Wayne Trail as the parking lots. There are so many different exhibits that it is becoming increasingly difficult to find new space to add new animals. The hippo exhibit that allows visitors to view the animal below the water is one of the only ones in North America, and is the main reason why the Chinese government chose the Toledo Zoo over Chicago and Washington D.C. back in the 80's to lease a pair of pandas (that attracted visitors from across the country). Not only does the zoo generate revenue from visitors and charity, but also taxpayers usually pass annual levees giving the Toledo Zoo millions of dollars. It is this community-wide commitment that makes the Toledo Zoo one of the country's best. The Toledo Zoo averages almost 900,000 visitors every year.

Toledo Mud Hens

margin:15px; width:150px; height:150px;"> Thanks to Jamie Farr (from the hit show MASH), when most people think of Toledo, the Toledo Mud Hens is the first thing that comes to their mind. Jamie Farr, a Toledo native, would always wear a Mud Hens baseball jersey or hat on MASH, and it was all over after that. Today, the Toledo Mud Hens sell more merchandise globally than any other minor league baseball team. Not only do the Mud Hens lead in merchandise sales, but the new ballpark (5/3 Field) has also made the Mud Hens tops in ticket sales for minor league baseball. Once you see the stadium, all of your questions will be answered. As the owner of the Cleveland Indians (Richard Jacobs) put it, "this stadium (5/3 Field) makes you feel like you are at a major league baseball game". When a team has all of this going for them, it makes it hard to lose. Since moving into their new stadium, the Mud Hens have made the playoffs twice, and consistently finish at the top of their division. The stadium is in the heart of downtown, and the Bronze Boar and The Emporium are located one block away from the main entrance for a couple of beers after the game (or before).

Valentine Theatre

margin:15px; width:150px; height:150px;">The Valentine Theatre dates back to the late 1890's, and is considered one of Toledo's most popular historic buildings. In October of 1999, the Valentine Theatre finished up a $28 million renovation project that brought the theatre back to life. Since the grand re-opening, the Valentine Theatre has entertained over 400,000 people. The Valentine Theatre plays hosts to a wide variety of performance mediums (plays, ballets, dace productions, musicals, etc). In addition to professional productions, the Valentine has a "Children's Series" that allows aspiring artistic students from the local area to showcase and hone their talent. Toledo has really made a commitment to the arts over the past decade, and the Valentine Theatre is one of the many success stories.

Toledo Ice

New to the ABA (American Basketball Association), the Toledo Ice just recently brought semi-professional basketball back to Toledo. Semi-Professional basketball has not taken off like other sports (baseball and hockey) at a national level, and Isaiah Thomas completely ruining the CBA (another semi-professional basketball league) has only made the situation less attractive. The Toledo Ice play their home games at the Toledo SeaGate Center, which is directly across the street from 5/3 Field (Toledo Mud Hens). The Toledo Ice has only been in existence for one season, so it is hard to pass any judgments at this point. Strong professional leagues in Europe, South America, and Asia have really prohibited the flood of talent to basketball that other sports enjoy in their semi-professional franchises. Success of the Toledo Ice solely lies with the marketing of the league on a national level. The NBA needs to do a better job promoting the ABA, and pushing players who go un-drafted into the semi-professional system (instead of leaving the country for more competitive leagues around the globe).

Toledo Farmers' Market

The Toledo Ohio Farmer's Market is located in the Warehouse District of Toledo. Currently, there are over 30 vendors that participate at the Farmer's Market on a regular basis. The Farmer's Market continues to pride itself on quality, homegrown produce just as it did in its early days (the first days of the Farmer's Market can be traced back to 1832). In addition to fresh produce, the Toledo Farmer's Market also offers poultry products, baked goods, herbs, fresh cut flowers, plants, handmade crafts, and gourmet food items.

Toledo Fire Museum

The Toledo Firefighters Museum is dedicated to the brave who unconditionally served the community, regardless of personal risk, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. On display, you will find two classic fire trucks (1927 American-LaFrance pumper, and a 1936 Schacht service ladder truck), hundreds of photos covering many all decades, vintage uniforms, hundreds of vintage toys, and so much more. There is also a fire safety and educational center for the youngsters to get acquainted with practicing safety first.

CitiFest

CitiFest is a non-profit organization that was created in 1987, and holds a charter with the city of Toledo to provide entertainment in the downtown vicinity. CitiFest was originally funded by taxpayer dollars, but is now mainly financed through public and private sector sponsorship. Some of the more popular events include Ribs on the River, RiverFest, firework displays, and the Rock, Rhythm, and Blues Festival. With the return of mayor Carty Finkbiner, has also come the return of Rally by the River. Rally by the River used to draw quality music acts down to Promenade Park on the weekends (and thousands of people as well), but the event planning fell through the floor and everyone stopped coming. Currently, Rally by the River has not made the comeback that mayor Carty Finkbiner was looking for. The city needs to splurge and finally get a real band (enough of the groups that were famous 30 years ago, and half of members are now deceased). Having a real band timed up with when the University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University are in session would make for a blockbuster event by Toledo standards.

Toledo Museum of Art

The Toledo Museum of Art is located in the historic Old West End of downtown Toledo. The endowment for the Toledo Museum of Art is always in the top 10 in the country (more than 30,000 works of art), and the new building dedicated to glass blowing will guarantee the museum's status as one of the nation's best for years to come. Due to the international status that the Toledo Museum of Art has achieved, it is commonplace to see vast exhibits on loan from around the globe. The collections come from other museums, and private collectors who want to share their art. Not only can you look at art when you visit the museum, but you can also make it! Classes of all sorts are offered, and the glass blowing program is internationally known (and almost impossible to get into).
