In 1913, the Erie Street Market was built for farmers to sell their produce through an open-air warehouse that they could drive their trucks right into. Since its conception, the Erie Street Market has progressed to be more than just a farmer's market. Today, the Erie Street Market comprises of three main sections (Toledo's Farmer's Market, Libbey Glass Factory Outlet, and the Superior Antique Mall). CitiFest manages the Erie Street Market, and just hired a full-time general manager to manage day-to-day operations and grow the market. This level of commitment from the city is new, and it is too early to judge if their efforts have paid off.
